Donation Program

cfcs_cemeteries_tax_formEffective January 1, 2010, the Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of Oakland is pleased to announce a donation program that allows for a tax deduction* when a family purchases burial rights for specific plots, crypts and niches. Pricing for our burial rights packages remain unchanged from 2009. The only change is that Catholic Cemeteries has been able to apply its status as a nonprofit religious corporation and a charitable organization exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code to allow for a portion of certain purchases to be tax deductible*.

Donation Program FAQs

Here are the answers to our frequently asked questions regarding our donation program.

  1. What documentation is available?
A purchaser will receive a copy of their donation agreement, the portion of their purchase that is a Gift Amount, a year end tax letter, and if needed by their tax consultant a copy of the appraisal and an opinion letter as described above.
  2. Will I receive a letter for my donation?
A letter will be sent annually for donations that exceed $250.
  3. What if I am on a payment plan?
CFCS will compute the amount of the donation that is applicable to the tax year in which it was paid and will be sent to the donor annually.  First monies in go towards the donation amount providing a larger donation in the first year(s) of payment. The gift portion is non-refundable.
